Why inclusivity matters
Play shapes reality
We believe our games have the power to shift realities out in the real world by shaping kinder, more empathetic and inclusive people.
Diversity drives innovation
When we welcome diverse perspectives that challenge us and push us to think differently, we ensure our games can inspire all our players.
Representation is incredibly powerful
When players see themselves in our games, we empower them creatively and do our part to correct the historical exclusion of certain communities.
Who we are
Maxis is a place for people who see building games as a unique opportunity to change hearts and minds by giving players the chance to create their own unique experiences. Members of our team are working toward a better world not only through our games, but through employee resource groups and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council.
Practicing inclusivity in our games
Practicing inclusivity
The Sims world is a place for representation and self-discovery. Players can select the pronouns that best fit their Sims across a variety of languages.
Global content
We work with creatives around the world to create culturally authentic experiences for our players with in-game décor, clothing, recipes, and more.
Community collabs
We partner with players to amplify their voices and add content they’ve created, such as lots and clothing items, to the game.
Employee resource groups
Many of us actively participate in ERGs, employee-led groups united by shared experience and committed to making workspaces inclusive.
