Maxis is founded by Will Wright and Jeff Braun.
1989 — SimCity
Players start building their own cities in the original SimCity.
1993 — SimCity 2000
The creative building continues in a new city simulator.
1997 — Joining forces
Maxis becomes part of Electronic Arts.
1999 — SimCity 3000
The legacy evolves as players re-create cities from around the world.
2000 — The Sims
The first installment of the life simulator launches. It’s time to play with life.
2003 — SimCity 4
The city-building fun grows.
2004 — The Sims 2
Players guide new Sims through life and help them achieve their goals.
2008 — Spore
Players experiment on a massive scale, guiding species from microscopic organisms to sentient space explorers.
2009 — The Sims 3
Players explore a clockwork world while guiding Sims through their lives.
2013 — SimCity (again!)
The classic is updated and expanded for a new generation.
2014 — The Sims 4
Players discover endless possibilities as they create and control Sims, build their homes, and share their creations.
2020 — The Sims Spark'd
Competitors on this show face creative challenges in The Sims.
