F1® 24 DRIVER RATINGS UPDATE - HUNGARY TO MONZA

The second post-launch Driver Ratings update sees a record-breaking boost for one driver

EA SPORTS™

Refreshed after the summer break, the 2024 Driver and Constructor tables continue to surprise and delight Formula 1® fans across the world, with twists and turns aplenty in the recent races. We’ve taken a look back at the stories that developed, analysed individual performances, and updated the F1® 24 Driver Ratings for a second time.

Ratings are given to each of the drivers at the start of the season based on their historical on-track performance. Throughout the year, the team at EA SPORTS crunches the numbers and consults with experts Anthony Davidson and Alex Jacques, to dynamically update the Ratings, keeping the game closely aligned with how the year is progressing.

What are the Driver Ratings categories?

Multiple factors make up each driver’s overall rating. These are broken down as follows:

  • Experience (EXP): More races, more points, with a greater weighting to the number of races they’ve had in F1 and the finishing positions in those races.
  • Racecraft (RAC): Racecraft denotes the driver's ability to work their way through the pack, with considerations given based on their ability to finish the race higher than where they started.
  • Awareness (AWA): Awareness rewards drivers who avoid the stewards' room. Penalty severity has a greater impact on how Awareness is adjusted.
  • Pace (PAC): Pace rewards the drivers who get closest to the fastest Race and Qualifying lap times as well as the difference to their teammates.
  • Overall Rating (RTG): A combination of all driver stats that lays out each driver's ability within F1® 24, with Pace having a greater weighting.

The ratings have an impact on how AI drivers perform in various modes. If you’ve already got a Career save on the go, you can choose whether or not to apply these changes by heading to your in-game mail.

September Update - Hungary to Monza

The last F1® 24’s ratings update included every race up to and including Britain. This latest update includes those from the Hungarian Grand Prix, through to the Italian Grand Prix in Monza - a total of four races.

Despite the fewer number of races, there was plenty of excitement to be had, with yet another new race winner crowned. These displays of racing excellence have resulted in some of the biggest mid-season ratings changes in the history of the F1® game series.

You can check out the full list of ratings changes here, but below are some of the biggest movers in this latest Driver Ratings update:

Oscar Piastri - A Monumental Rise

What a season it’s been so far for the Australian, Oscar Piastri. If the well-measured drives in the opening races of the season weren’t enough, his unmatched consistency has seen him finish no lower than fourth since Austria, earning more points than any other driver in that time.

His form was rewarded with his first race win in Hungary and as such, his F1® 24 rating has been impacted accordingly.

Oscar’s Experience has risen nine points, representing the biggest single stat increase ever. In addition, his Awareness is up a massive eight points, with Racecraft and Pace both up one. His Overall rating has increased by two to 87.

Zhou and Bottas - Struggling for Pace

It’s safe to say the Kick Sauber team are in a transitional period, with a big shift coming in 2026 when Audi takes the reins. Unfortunately, this year they’ve often floundered towards the back of the grid in both qualifying and races, representing the only team not to score a point.

Whilst both their drivers, Zhou Guanyu and Valtteri Bottas, have avoided penalties on-track, Zhou was consistently outperformed by his veteran team mate from Hungary to Monza, finishing no higher than 18th.

With team battles playing such a big factor in the Driver Ratings, Zhou has seen his Overall rating drop two, due to his Racecraft and Pace dropping three a piece. For Valtteri, he saw a single point increase Overall to 82, thanks to Racecraft and Pace increases of one. We’ll be rooting for them to both get on the board in the remaining races of the 2024 season.

Charles Leclerc - Back on Track

If you asked Charles how he thinks his 2024 season has been overall, he’d probably take a little longer to answer than some, given the fluctuating results he and his team’s performances have seen.

In the last four races however, he’s really found some form. Two fourth place finishes, a podium in Zandvoort, and a remarkable victory in Monza, with scenes post-race reminiscent of that famous win at the same track in 2019.

Add that to his dominance over his teammate Sainz in each of those races, and it’s no wonder his Overall rating has risen to 90, thanks to improvements in Experience, Racecraft, and Awareness.

What’s next for 2024?

For the first time in what feels like a while, there’s no outright best team or driver in Formula 1®. With the Constructor and Drivers titles still up for grabs, it’s going to be a thrilling end to the season, perhaps even going down to the last race in Abu Dhabi.
