Social Impact

We Play for a Better Tomorrow

At EA, we believe play is for everyone. That’s why we invest back in the communities where we live, work, and play, driving positive impact and creating opportunities for more people to unlock their potential.

In collaboration with our partners around the world, we’re harnessing the power of creativity in and beyond our games to bridge opportunity gaps in education, bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math (STEAM) to life and equipping learners with next-gen skills to become tomorrow's innovators.

This commitment shows up across our work—from the passion of our people to the innovation in our products and the impact of our philanthropy. Together, we’re building a more equitable future where everyone can play, learn, and thrive.

Play to Learn

When play meets learning, we make STEAM education come alive.

From game design curriculum and hackathons to coding clubs, teacher workshops, and creative computing experiences, our community investments create more opportunities for students. We’re also breaking down barriers to our industry and inspiring students to explore STEAM careers through scholarship and mentoring programs, readying them for the dynamic workforce of the future.

Get to know some of our social impact investments with key partners:

  • Our partnership with Girls Who Code helps students build coding skills and solve real-world problems. For the last 10 years, we’ve hosted a virtual game design summer program, where they learned UX design, rapid prototyping, and explored tech careers with guidance from EA leaders. Over 90% left with a stronger interest in computer science careers and the games industry..
  • We developed a free, interactive module with EVERFI for students to build core STEAM skills and explore careers. In FY24, our investment reached over 7,600 students in 130+ schools across the US and UK, teaching game design, problem-solving, and teamwork.
  • The EA Teen Animation Scholarship with Arts Umbrella is a 15-week program that helps students aged 15-19 develop strong portfolios for postsecondary opportunities, learning animation techniques and getting mentored by guest EA lecturers.
  • Through creative computing workshops, free resources, and the Festival of Play, our support of Ukie’s Digital Schoolhouse program in the UK helps turn students’ passion for games into practical opportunities. In FY24, we reached over 1,600 school age children and 85 teachers.

John Madden Legacy Commitment to Education

To honor John Madden’s legacy we established a special fund in 2022 that helps students confronting systemic barriers succeed in college and beyond. Our five-year, $5 million commitment includes grants for some of the leading STEAM education organizations in the United States–College Track, Girls Who Code, Mission Bit, StreetCode Academy–and the EA Madden Scholarship Program with the United Negro College Fund. Scholarships provide students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities with financial support, mentoring, career readiness support, and a behind-the-scenes experience with Madden game developers and studio leaders.

Impact In and Beyond the Game

Our games connect players, fans, and employees to build support for important causes and help create a world where everyone can play. Some recent examples include:

  • Raising critical funds through Extra Life charity streams for Children’s Miracle Network by our teams at Maxis Studios, MOTIVE, and Capital Games
  • Donating the value of prizes from the Apex Legends Ignite Sweepstakes to The Trevor Project to support LGBTQ young people
  • Partnering with Apple and (RED) for the Games for (RED) campaign to donate proceeds of the (RED) Value Pack in EA SPORTS FC Mobile to the Global Fund to fight AIDS

We’re changing lives through football. In 2023, we launched EA SPORTS FC FUTURES to invest in community-level football globally. In its first year, we reached over 170,000 people across six continents by creating and refurbishing pitches, supplying equipment, and offering free-to-access practices for young players and coaches. Our efforts are uniting fans, inspiring youth, and making a lasting impact through the power of the world’s game.

EA Gives Back

Everyone at EA has the power to make a difference. Our programs enable employees to take action and create real impact, whether it’s through hands-on and virtual volunteering or charitable giving. Throughout the year, our teams rally together—supporting causes that matter to them, contributing to disaster relief, and partnering with organizations that drive meaningful change.

We empower our people to pay it forward, offering paid Volunteer Time Off and a flexible matching gifts program to amplify their efforts. Whether it’s their skills, time, or voices, we make it easier for our employees to make a lasting difference in the world around them.
