NFC South Club Championship & Derwin James vs. The World
Derwin takes on Keenan Allen and the NFC South finals became the day of the underdog.
Madden Championship Series
This week, we crowned new champs in the NFC South and Derwin’s newest challenger was a Los Angeles Chargers teammate.
But ultimately, the NFC South became the day of the underdog. Check out the matches.
Atlanta Falcons
VY vs. Mr Football 88
When looking at defensive rankings, offensive rankings, and win percentage, these two were extremely even. For the first half, it was that, going into halftime tied at 10.
But Mr Football 88’s confidence grew substantially as the game went on. He took complete control of the game and never looked back. VY had nowhere to go and Mr Football took the title for the Atlanta Falcons.
But the real question is … how did he do on his final exam after the game?
Carolina Panthers
Manu vs. Strap X God
The night might not have featured a defending champ in the division, but there was Manu. Manu had won the Panthers Club title twice before, so he was looking to make this a big statement and a return to Madden glory.
Strap X God is a great, young talent in the MCS, but unfortunately, his inexperience showed against Manu’s preparedness. There were a few missed reads and Strap just never had an answer for Manu’s defense.
Manu looked solid and helped assert Madden crew TNC’s dominance so far in the Club Championship.
New Orleans Saints
Alan vs. So Not Gucci
Let’s check the stats. Alan was ranked fourth among Saints competitors in both offense and defense. So Not Gucci’s offense was ranked third, but his defense ranked dead last. So just looking at numbers, things were not looking good for Gucci.
That changed almost immediately after kickoff. Gucci snagged INTs and scored when he had to. Alan started making things work late, but Gucci balled out and completed one of the biggest upsets of the season.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Danny vs. CleffTheGod
CleffTheGod is a widely respected member of the Madden community. He’s one of the best players in the world. He makes great adjustments and usually comes through in the clutch.
That’s important to point out when he plays someone for a Club title that’s in his first MCS live event. It’s an even bigger event when that player, Danny, a relative unknown in the Madden community, actually beats Cleff in one of the better comebacks in recent memory.
Derwin James vs. The World
Derwin James hasn’t really been tested that much this season. Some talented challengers have stepped up, but so far, very few established a quality gameplan against the NFL Pro Bowler and Madden juggernaut.
It only made sense to not only put him up against someone of a higher level, but someone that matched his Pro Bowl status. Enter elite WR and Los Angeles Chargers teammate, Keenan Allen.
This was clearly a bit more personal for Derwin, because he talked WAY more than usual.
